The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist in the implementation of the County's Tourism Program related to sports tourism. The position is responsible for creating and implementing a strategy for the marketing and promotion of Lake County as a sports destination. The position must develop strong relationships with all Lake County sports facilities and sports tourism partners, while maintaining and enhancing Lake County’s relationships with regional, statewide and national event rights holders and sports organizations. The position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Tourism or closely related field with five (5) years of related experience.
The Office of Visit Lake is responsible for a host of functions to promote and help strengthen the local tourism industry and business community.
Tourism operations are funded by resort tax collections and are used to help fund the development of local events through sponsorships and advertising campaigns. The Office also assists organizations coordinating events by providing essential support services, such as printing of programs, promotional mailings and media marketing. These activities generate capacity building for events, increase collections in the resort tax and result in economic benefits to all of Lake County.
